The incidence of cardiovascular diseases is continuously increasing alongside the westernization of dietary life and economic growth. In addition, as the number of people receiving regular health examinations is increasing, cases of early detection when no symptoms are displayed are also on the rise.
In keeping with the social changes, the Department of Cardiology was established in the Korea Cancer Center Hospital with Dr. Hyeon Seok Nam taking office as the director.
Upon detection of the causes of cardiovascular disease-related symptoms, the Department of Cardiology effectively treats the diseases by administering medication, dietary therapy, exercise therapy, interventional therapy, etc. It also plays an important role in consulting for cardiovascular disease-related complications and symptoms of cancer patients.
In particular, while diagnosing and treating patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases as the major causes of death, the department identifies patients with high risk of cardiovascular diseases, managing the risk factors to reduce the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases; thus helping patients enjoy a healthier, longer life.
